Tara Tucker has studied traditional African drumming with Master Drummers and percussion ensembles in several West African countries, including Guinea, Burkina Faso
and Ghana. She has taught djembe drumming at universities, schools and community centres in Australia, Europe and the United States.
Tara is a student of the legendary Guinean Master Drummer, Mamady Keita, whose international school of West African Drumming,
'Tam Tam Mandingue' (TTM), has 14 branches throughout the world.
TTM is dedicated to preserving and teaching the music, culture, spirit and tradition of the Mandingue Djembe
in order to promote tolerance, understanding, equality and peace.
Tara is currently training with Mamady for certification as a Tam Tam Mandingue Professor
with the goal of opening Australia's first branch of Tam Tam Mandingue, in Cairns.
Tara's students appreciate her patience, energy, good humour and infectious enthusiasm for African percussion.
